GK Football families,
Here is a possible preview of what our preseason practices may look like:
Fall, preseason practice includes 20 days beginning in October, 10 padded, 10 non-padded (imagine typical spring practice for high school).
Our 2020 football season (games, practices) is slated to begin February 17th with the first game March 4th or 5th. The plan for the league this year is to include a north and south division. We are included in the south division along with Bethel, Olympia, Rogers and Emerald Ridge.
Here is what the SPSL football commissioner shared:
Current Draft Schedule
Possible Addition if we get 7 games (which I think is going to happen, but hasn’t been approved yet)
– Non-League Crossover games (this week can be added to the front end of the season as a week one game).
(Week 1-5) -One team crossover game from each side.
-League games for other 4 division teams
Week 6 or 7 – Seeding Crossover for final places out of SPSL (the WIAA and the WCD Commissioners will have to decide how many allocations, what the playoff format looks like, what leagues may/may not glue, etc. so lots to be decided here still but this is the idea).
S #1 vs N #2
S #2 vs N #1
S #3 vs N #3
S #4 vs N #5
S #5 vs N #4
Hopefully there will be more to come in the next couple of weeks by all decision-making bodies to get an even clearer picture.
Hang in there! Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks, Coach Kurle

The weather was perfect for our Graham-Kapowsin Eagles as they dominated the fields on Saturday, June 15th. Many of our players were scouted by colleges and this Tournament showed the skills and talent of our full team, both offensively and defensively. The GK Eagle program also fed a few hundred College Coaches, High School Coaches, Officials, and of course....our own boys, the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles! That is over 300 sandwiches!
The Atavus Tournament featured 16 of the top football teams in Washington State. This single day event placed GK against Eastside Catholic, Kennedy Catholic and Enumclaw High Schools in the preliminary bracket. GK heads into the finals to play Kennedy Catholic, Union and finally, Steilacoom High School. Graham-Kapowsin wins 28-7 against Steilacoom High School. This video shows the highlights of the final game. Way to go Eagles!
